Brian Slaytor
Brian Slaytor hand crafts distinctive bird sculptures from driftwood that he finds on the beaches of Norfolk. Wading birds, seabirds and fish are beautifully carved from wood salvaged from the estuaries of East Anglia and beyond, each one possessing a unique character as a result of Brian’s keen observation, skill and sensitivity. Their statuesque quality captured by the artist and his eye for nature makes each one unique and stand apart.

Artist Biography
Brian Slaytor was born in Tolworth, Surrey in 1947, moving to Norfolk at the age of ten, developing a keen interest in bird watching and roaming his surroundings of the Breydon Estuary & Bure Marshes. Following a career in carpentry and engineering in the offshore industry, an early retirement led him into that of full time sculptor. He describes his sculptures as “…not intending to be a true likeness but more a stylistic portrayal of the birds I have loved all my life…” His birds have found homes all over the world, The British Isles, Europe and the USA.
